Hello Foodies! It's time to start February in a fresh and fruity way! :3 Today we will check out KitKat's flavour of shinshu apple. Is it worth ordering from Japan just to try it?
As you can see on the map below, this flavour is (surprisingly, ha ha) limited to Shinshu region. We already tried one flavour from this region - ichimi chili. But what is the connection between chili and apples?
On the page about Japanese food (Makogoro Ippin - click here to check it out!) I found an information that in upland Shinshu region, there are huge temperature differences between morning and evening. Because of this it's possible to grow special kind of apples, which are fully-ripened and sweet like honey. It would be amazing to try them some day, especially because Japanese people extraordinarily take care of their every plantation.
What about the product itself? Well... apples with chocolate always go well together. The sweetness of chocolate and freshness of apples are a very well balanced combination. You can feel from the first bite that this KitKat is perfectly made and has a really high quality. Fruits and chocolate "dance" together until the very end without any domination or mismatch.
I was close to falling in love, but... after all this apple flavour isn't special in any way. Maybe it's because I'm from Poland and I'm used to eating very good apples here, but I expected more from apples described as "sweet like honey".

Hello, Veti here :)
Apples aren't my favourite fruits but in the summer time I can eat tons of them. From shinshu apple flavoured Kitkat I expected some fruity, kinda "fresh" chocolate.
At the very beginning when I smelled this KitKat, it was an amazing experience, quintessence of a sunny, summer day in an orchard. Then I tried it and it was just fine for me, like good quality milky chocolate with some flavour of the finest apples.
This Kitkat is still very good, a must-try product but in the end, I feel a little disappointed. It's tasty but not as super fresh and fine as I expected. Still, I would like to eat it every summer. :P
From me shinshu apple Kitkat gets yoroshi grade, 7 out of 10.
Cool!
